Learning Model Update for Families - January 13

Learning Model Update for Families - January 13
Posted on 01/13/2021

Hello MPSD Families,

We are excited to let you know that starting on Tuesday, January 26 - the first day of second semester, we will be returning to a blended learning instructional model with a combination of in-person learning in our school buildings and remote learning from home. Students have no school on Monday, January 25, which is a previously scheduled staff professional development day.

We do not expect to meet our community COVID-19 burden rate when results become available today. However, we have met all of our other expanded gating criteria including available hospital beds and other critical health care data. After much consideration our District Administration has decided to move forward with returning to a blended learning model on January 26. At its meeting last night, the MPSD Board of Education granted us authority to make that transition.

The district and your children’s schools will be sharing details on blended learning in coming days, but we wanted to let you know of this decision so you can plan appropriately for your children’s return to their school buildings. We will continue to offer full-distance learning for the approximately 21% of families who prefer not to return to the classroom at this time.

Please rest assured that we will do everything we can to protect the health and safety of our students and staff, and we will continue the mitigation measures we implemented last fall including masks and social distancing.

Again, watch for continued updates on the details, but we hope that you join us in our excitement to return to blended instruction.

With gratitude,

Mark Holzman

MPSD Superintendent
